Senior Quantitative Analyst – Systems

A large financial Service Company based in Johannesburg seeks a Senior Quantitative Analyst – Systems with:

 Minimum Requirements

  • Matric
  • Degree Commerce / Computer Science / Maths / Engineering degree with good results
  • A qualification with some programming experience Data Quality experience
  • 3-4 years banking / technology experience preferred:
  • Data analysis and or database execution preferred
  • Some form of programming essential (SQL, SAS, Python, C, Java, Visual Basic, etc.)
  • Systems information/analysis would be beneficial

Role Purpose:

  • Involvement in the Credit Decision Engine(s) with responsibilities that include:
  • Designing, Programming, Testing and Implementing of new business strategies and enhancements in the FICO Blaze tool
  • Identification of potential issues in the business solution and proposing ways to resolve the issues
  • Collaborating across numerous business areas and divisions to ensure Decision Engine functions accurately
  • Attending to ad hoc queries relating to the Decision Engine or any of the data sources used in the execution of decisions
  • Troubleshooting inaccurate results from the Decision Engine
  • Analysis and reporting on the Decision Engine results and execution
  • Understand broader business systems and assist with issue resolution
  • Optimisation and development of testing tools for the team and broader business

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret verbal problem statements and through analytical insight provide implementable solutions using expertise with data management tools and bespoke credit system tools.
  • Build and formally present reports by monitoring business and system solution performance through analysis.
  • Develop good cross functional work relationships across the different business functions
  • Implement, test and monitor credit business changes in required software tools
  • Identify root cause of automated decision issues and propose potential solutions.
  • Increase efficiencies through programming and automating processes.
  • Analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative data.

  • Analytics:
    • Strong numeracy
    • Strong analytical / problem solving ability
    • Track record in working with large and complex data sets (SAS, Matlab, SQL, Excel, etc.)
  • Execution / Delivery:
    • Track record of results / getting work done
    • Ability to work in teams or as an individual
    • Good attention to detail and self-checking
    • Willing to take ownership of initiatives from start to finish and drive to completion
    • Self-motivated to succeed
  • IT:
    • Some form of programming ability
    • Familiarity with data structures
  • Communication:
    • Ability to explain technical items in a way that is understood by non-technical individuals
    • Articulate communicator
