DB2 Mainframe Platform Owner

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced DB2 Platform Owner to provide strategic, technical, and operational leadership for our DB2 platform. This role demands a strong technical background, deep platform expertise, and a passion for ensuring service excellence across the end-to-end customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the DB2 platform lifecycle, ensuring availability, performance, and strategic alignment.

  • Oversee platform governance, deployment of new services, and platform stability.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure best-practice designs and blueprints are implemented.

  • Approve architecture designs and contribute to the technical roadmap.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for the platform.

  • Drive platform integration across domains, ensuring cohesive implementation and monitoring.

  • Evaluate and support non-functional requirements such as scalability, reliability, and security.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with technology vendors for strategic direction and support.

  • Define and deliver on the platform’s service expectations and SLAs.

  • Champion best practices in IT risk management, disaster recovery, and business continuity.

  • Foster team collaboration and provide leadership within technical teams.

  • Promote agile thinking and seek opportunities to improve systems and business processes.

  • Support culture-building and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate

  • DB2 Database Certification

Experience Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience with DB2MVS database platform on IBM Mainframe

  • 15+ years of technical operational IT experience in DB2MVS database support

  • 5–10 years in a Technical Team Leadership capacity

  • Proven expertise in database administration, performance tuning, and query optimization
