Key Responsibilities
- Lead architecture for net-new and modernization initiatives across AWS and Azure (multi-cloud, hybrid, and edge patterns)
- Produce HLDs/LLDs, reference architectures, sequence diagrams, and decision records
- Select cloud-native services vs. containers vs. serverless vs. Kubernetes based on workload fit, cost, performance, resilience, and compliance
- Design for multi-account/subscription patterns (landing zones, networking, IAM/Entra ID, governance, policies) Lead hands-on build and migration: infrastructure-as-code, pipelines, landing zones, networking, security controls, observability
- Container and serverless delivery: EKS/AKS, ECS/Fargate, Lambda, Azure Functions, event-driven architectures Disaster Recovery and Redundancy Plans
- Embed security-by-design
- Implement guardrails: AWS Control Tower / Azure Landing Zone Accelerator
- Collaborate with Security/Compliance on CIS, NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, POPIA
- Architect and implement monitoring, logging, tracing, SLO/SLA, alerting, runbooks, autoscaling, backup/DR, and testing
- Run architecture workshops and PoCs
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring
- Document solution decisions and present to forums
- Cost review and optimization for cloud workloads
Minimim Qualification Required
- Grade 12 Senior Certificate
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/information systems or equivalent
- AWS: Solutions Architect – Professional
- Azure: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Minimum Experience
- 5-10+ years in cloud engineering/architecture with production delivery in both AWS and Azure
- 5-10+ years in cloud engineering/architecture with production delivery in hybrid environments
- Strong understanding of network protocols, such as IPv4, OSPF, BGP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANS
- Experience with network troubleshooting using tools like ping, traceroute, Wireshark, and other diagnostic utilities Experience with network security, including firewalls, VPNs, NAT, access control lists (ACLs), and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS)
- Must have a broad understanding SD WAN and MPLS networks
- Must be proficient in both verbal and written communication in English
- Extensive knowledge of cloud networking (AWS, Azure, etc.) is an advantage
- Monitoring performance and health across environments and various products
