A large financial Service Company based in Johannesburg seeks a Linux Administrator with:

 Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of Linux Server Administration
• Minimum 3 years of Server automation using server-side scripting
• Good knowledge of Relational Databases
• Knowledge of Veritas Cluster Server and Veritas File System is an advantage
• Good knowledge of networks
• Ability to self-motivate, to plan and meet deadlines without constant oversight, and find the most elegant solution for a problem
• Good communication and collaboration skills and a strong teamwork ethic

Role Purpose:

To join our in-house IT Infrastructure team. You will be part of the team responsible for the management and maintenance of all the development/test and partly production servers.

Responsibilities:

• Management of Linux servers (mount and un-mount LUNs, etc.)
• Monitoring of Linux servers through Solar winds
• Reporting on status, health and performance of Linux servers
• Installation and configuration of the OS and software components
• Server-side scripting (bash, python etc.) to deliver data via endpoints to services
• Investigate and implement innovative new features, and solve difficult problems using novel approaches
• Rapidly fix bugs and deploy products across a large, distributed family of servers
• Monitor space usage and proactively advise on any issue that may arise
• Work with outsource partner to deliver world class services and ensure uptime all-hours of 100%
• Knowledge of RPM based Linux distros, E.G Red-Hat, CentOS, Fedora
• Unix Shell Scripting language, E.G Bash, SH
• Configuration management tools is a plus (not a necessity), E.G Puppet, Chef, Ansible
• Understanding Nginx with FastCGI integration
• Understand load balancer setup and tools e.g. HAProxy
• Docker knowledge, including container orchestration tools, E.G Kubernetes
