Senior Audit Manager: IT Info Sec

A large financial Service Company based in Johannesburg seeks a Senior Audit Manager: IT Info Sec with:

 Minimum Requirements

  • BComm, BCompt, BSc
  • CISA, CISSP, CISSM
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • 5 years minimum Management experience
  • Info Sec and Audit experience

Role Purpose:

To manage and lead a team of professionals to ensure that independent assurance of the control environment and effective risk management practices are provided to the Company Group Audit Committee.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide input into annual budget and manage budget by forecasting, tracking and authorising expenditure as well as regularly liaising with finance department to ensure budget met and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Monitor budgeted audit hours by comparing actuals to agreed budget to ensure that projects are delivered on time, meeting business requirements and targeted hours.
  • Monitor productivity levels of team to ensure that all individual, project and department results are delivered within budget to deadlines.
  • Monitor and manage the execution of audits in line with Group Internal Audit (GIA) methodology to ensure delivery of quality standards and delivery according to stakeholder expectations.
  • Provide guidance to audit teams by ensure teams conduct audit assignments that add value to the auditable, so that risk assurance is provided to stakeholders and improvements on risk management practices are implemented.
  • Extract audit assignment information for and attend key meetings/forums with stakeholders to provide audit feedback on outstanding audit issues, progress to audit plan and/or emerging risk trends.
  • Provide stakeholder awareness and education on Audit best practices, methodology and audit issues policy, by conducting pre-engagement meetings and attending relevant forums to manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Collaborate with teams within GIA by sharing research on specialised topics in order to create awareness and to demonstrate best practice.
  • Manage relationships with teams, peers, GIA Exco and external stakeholders by following GIA methodology for each assignment to ensure relevant information is shared and to contribute to increased efficiencies.
  • Identify audit universe and key risks impacting the business, by conducting research and keeping abreast of market trends to ensure the annual audit plan is aligned to Group Internal Audit strategy and that relevant and key risks are focused on.
  • Review auditable unit risk information, obtained from relevant business units, to consider inherently high risk to be included in audit plan to provide risk based assurance.
  • Determine audit hours required to execute audit plan by comparing the required/budgeted hours to available capacity to ensure adequate resource allocation is made.
  • Conduct a quarterly review (3 + 9 plan) of the audit plan by verifying with stakeholders and conducting research to ensure relevant risk coverage in audit plan and obtain sign-off from stakeholders.
  • Monitor progress of end-to-end audit assignment by managing resources and guiding teams allocated per assignment and take corrective action where required to ensure delivery of annual plans and to optimise value.
  • Ensure the proactive management of the end-to-end issues assurance process through monitoring and reporting the execution of the end-to-end process to verify that agreed management actions are implemented and followed up.
  • Ensure accuracy of management information by verifying accuracy and completeness captured onto issues tracking system to facilitate accurate reporting to stakeholders.
  • Manage performance of staff by implementing performance agreements, ensuring a clear vision, agreeing on goals and objectives, providing regular feedback on performance, recognising and rewarding achievement and take appropriate corrective action where required.
  • Mentor and coach staff on identified performance gaps as identified through performance feedback discussions and task appraisal in order to eliminate gaps and improve performance.
  • Tailor team development needs, as identified during engagements and meetings with staff, to ensure that staff stays abreast in field of expertise and deliver on the expectations from stakeholders.
  • Create an environment of teamwork by engaging with staff formally and informally, keeping staff informed and encouraging participation in decision making processes to motivate staff to perform and contribute to the success of Group Internal Audit.
  • Build capability of self and staff by identifying current and future training and development needs and managing talent to ensure an environment for optimal performance is created.
  • Identify talent pool through conducting career conversations and utilising the talent grid principles and develop talent retention programmes (eg. rotation) to maintain a capable high performing team.
  • Ensure self and staff understand and embrace the Company Vision and Values by leading by example and re-in forcing values continuously to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Recruit and select staff by matching the skills and competencies to the requirements of the job to build an effective team.
  • Ensure transformational target are met for own team through consideration of targets during the staff recruitment, retention  and training process and utilising suppliers listed on the preferred supplier list, thereby contributing to the achievement of GIA targets.
  • Participate and encourage team participation in Company Culture building initiatives (eg. Surveys) contributing to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation and operational goals.
  • Participate in the development and implement action plans to address team issues raised in culture survey results and that results improve year on year.
  • Create a client service culture through various required interventions to deliver a world class service through others.
  • Support and encourage staff to participate and support corporate responsibility initiatives for the achievement of business strategy (eg. Green Strategy).
  • Support the implementation of business optimisation improvement in GIA through team engagement to achieve operational excellence.
