Purpose of Role
• To consult, advise and proactively engage on Groupwide Employment law (“Employment law”) matters
• Provide insights and manage legislative process internally regarding relevant domestic and Rest of Africa presence countries Employment law and related developments;
• Drafting and vetting various employment relations and general commercial agreements
• Managing Employment law related litigation
• Conducting research into a wide range of commercial law, financial services regulation and Employment law matters
Responsibilities
• Delivering key insights in supporting transaction and strategic decision making on Employment law matters impacting the Company Group
• Drafting and vetting a wide range of commercial agreements and legal opinions, predominantly but not exclusively employee relations related
• Identify new Employment law legislation through subscriptions, research and stakeholder engagements, to determine impact and advise relevant stakeholders, including ROA subsidiaries, for updates to standard and bespoke employment agreements
• Order to improve innovation, achieve efficiencies and increase competencies
Additional requirements
• Worked in a law firm or practiced as an advocate
• Practical experience in working on Employment law related matters with demonstrated deep specialisation in this area of law
• Ability to apply Employment law experience in a banking and/or insurance organisation
• Successful track record in providing a high degree of accountability and value-added support at senior and executive levels
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence individuals at all levels of the organisation in accordance with company values
Qualifications and Experience
• Law degree with relevant practical Employment law advisory experience, preferably within a law firm or banking institution.
• Being an admitted attorney or admitted advocate with would be advantageous
