Role Purpose

To interpret the business requirement specification and translate into a detailed system design specification to enable the development of innovative, flexible and efficient solution of a business problem.

Responsibilities

Explore ways to constantly improve quality of existing services, processes and systems in order to be more efficient.
•Deliver exceptional service that exceeds customers’ expectations through proactive, innovative and appropriate solutions by resolving queries quickly and effectively.
•Cultivate and manage objective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including end-users, SME’s, project managers and senior staff members by providing input to validate business requirements.
•Liaise and communicate the system requirements to the necessary audiences e.g. testers, developers, business analysts, infrastructure, production support, systems analyst (other areas of the business), etc.
•Define and document each function that the system is required to perform and the functional boundary of the system by defining and analysing the required interactions between the system and its environment in terms of interface and integration constraints to ensure that business needs/requirements are satisfied by the system requirements.
•Comply, understand and align to all steps within IT development and meet governance in terms of legislative and audit requirements.
•Analyse the integrity of the system requirements, perform -impact assessment on each requirement, document and maintain the set of system requirements together with the associated rationale, effort, decisions, dependencies and assumptions.
•Manage traceability between the system requirements and derived artifacts including system models to the relevant detail.
•Ensure adequate unit tests are performed for all configuration and development tasks and ensure results are successful. Ensure testing yields an acceptable level of performance for the changes being delivered and the application is not adversely affected.
•Continuously assess own performance, seek timely and clear feedback and request training where appropriate.
•Participate and contribute to a development culture where information regarding successes, issues, trends and ideas are actively shared.

Additional Requirements

The Systems Analyst works closely with Business Analysts, Architects and Developers in order to design new IT solutions, modify, enhance or adapt existing systems and integrate new features or improvements, with the aim of improving business efficiency and productivity.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

•Design IT solutions to satisfy new and changing business requirements
•Interpret business requirements to design robust, efficient business systems, aligned to the enterprise architecture strategy and best practices.
•Create high quality, comprehensive technical design specifications to complex business problems / challenges.
•Solution Design in association with the Architects.
•Review of technical specifications
•Liaise and communicate the system requirements to the necessary audiences e.g. testers, developers, business analysts
•Comply, understand and implement all steps within IT development and meet governance in terms of legislative and audit requirements
•Define and document each function that the system is required to perform and the functional boundary of the system by defining and analyzing the required interactions between the system and its environment in terms of interface constraints to ensure that business needs/requirements are satisfied by the system requirements
•Manage traceability between the system requirements and derived artefacts
• Analyze the integrity of the system requirements and perform a risk assessment on each requirement and document and maintain the set of system requirements together with the associated rationale, decisions and assumptions
•Explore ways to constantly improve quality of existing services, processes and systems in order to be more efficient

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
• TOGAF certification a plus
• 5 years’ work experience as a systems analyst
• Advanced experience in Object Oriented design, Service Oriented Architecture and Java.
• Advanced knowledge of ERDs, process flow charts, sequence diagrams and use cases.
• Ability to document requirements using UML
• SQL – Database design, queries, reporting
• Enterprise Messaging Bus architectures
• Experience in using Modelling tools (e.g. Enterprise Architect)
• Possess advanced programming logic and ability to write pseudo-code
• Strong skills to investigate and analyze information in troubleshooting
• Good understanding of project management principles and SDLC
• Good grasp of Java coding techniques and the ability to read and understand code
• Thorough understanding of process flows and business rules and how this is modelled in the IT systems
• Exposure to one or more of the following languages XML, and JSON
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience working in a large corporate environment helpful
