Digital Technologist

A large financial Service Company based in Johannesburg seeks a Digital Technologist with:

Role Purpose:

To play a technical lead role in the solutioning and delivery of disruptive company driven Fintech solutions

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
  • Professional Qualifications, Bachelor’s Degree, Honours or Masters in Information Systems, Informatics, Computer Science or Engineering
  • 1 year of Dev Ops Experience
  • 2-3 years of Lead Web/Mobile Application and Integration Design experience
  • 2-3 years of Lead Development experience
  • 6-10 years of IT Industry experience
  • Has experience in using cloud technologies in solving problems, namely Amazon Web Services, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect, design, implement and drive next generation system architectures and automation solutions within company’s Digital Disruption Stream
  • Act as a technical liaison between clients, product owners, security specialists, full stack developers and support engineers
  • Ensure that the digital solution’s functional and non-functional requirements are appropriately managed and the application supports the agreed product vision and high level capabilities
  • Provide technical leadership, project guidance, and business development in various emerging technology areas i.e. (IoT, Cloud, AI, Robotics and Block chain)
  • Prototype new Emerging Technologies in order to supplement new platform adoption recommendations within company’s Digital Disruption Stream
  • Advise business on how to quickly translate potential opportunities into executable technology solutions utilizing existing Fintech and /or cloud enabled platforms
  • Serve as a change management evangelist, providing thought leadership to teams within the organization on new innovative ways of working in order to further streamline the current execution lifecycle
  • Act as a customer champion, continuously advocating for a superior customer experience throughout the product lifecycle
  • Produces logical and detailed component specifications and translates these into detailed designs for implementation using selected design products
  • Demonstrates proficiency across a number of diverse technologies. I.E. Java, Python, .NET, Ruby, Perl, etc.
  • Shows interest in emerging development technologies, namely e.g. SCALA, Haskell, Golang, RUST, Lamba and Kotlin
  • Demonstrates an understanding of clustered application containerization, i.e. Docker Swarm, Kubernetes
  • Has incorporated a custom or off the shelf analytics engine (Google Analytics, Omniture) into a greater solution as part of a previous initiative
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Dev-Ops and has experience with one or more tools within a continuous digital delivery lifecycle. These can include Jenkins, CircleCI, Bamboo, Buddybuild, Testflight and HockeyApp
  • Maintains awareness of opportunities provided by new technology to address challenges or to enable new ways of working
