Development Manager

  A large financial Service Company based in Sandton, seeks a Development Manager with:

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math or related field.
  • SAS Data Scientist certification, Microsoft Data Scientist or related.
  • 3-5 Years’ experience in the field of Data Science
  • Financial Analysis
  • Banking environment
  • Experience in using data visualisation tools, like Power BI.
  • Experience using query languages such as sql, hive and pig.
  • Experience in using SAS, R and/Python for building data models.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases.

Job Purpose:

Spearhead the testing and exploration of Advanced Analytics, Machine learning and cognitive computing to assist in making sense of the trends in the “big data” environment. Discover hidden insights in vast amounts of data to drive decisions, optimisations and revenue. Bring Analytics to the Data.

Responsibilities:

  • Mine and analyse data to identify and drive optimisation and improvement of systems and processes.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging data to deliver insights and drive business solutions.
  • Develop Advanced Analytical Models & Algorithms for data sets.
  • Provide consulting services on field of data science and subject matter expert domains to promote analytical capability for the enterprise.
  • Writing and reviewing white papers as part of analytical capability for the enterprise.
  • Analysis Tool Testing and Guidance to Data Architects for Deployment.
  • Deliver research projects which allow data value chain efficiencies.
  • Implementation of Agile Data Science methodology within Advanced Analytics team, including hypothesis testing, experiment design and feedbacks & retrospectives.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
  • Improve personal capability and stay abreast of developments and trends in field of data science.
  • Understand and embrace the Company vision and demonstrate the values through interaction with team and stakeholders.
