Scrum Master
A large financial Service Company based in Johannesburg, is looking for a Scrum Master with:
- Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
- Diplomas Degrees
- Certified Scrum Master qualification (MUST)
- 5 years’ experience working in a software development environment
- 2-3 years working with medium to high complexity software deliverable and teams
Role Purpose:
The Scrum Master is responsible for making sure a Scrum team lives by the values and practices of Scrum. This involves removing any impediments to progress, facilitating meetings, and performing other functions such as working with the product owner to make sure the product backlog is in good shape and ready for the next sprint.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure software development is delivered on target within due date and according to scope and governance.
- Ensure management of scope, including coverage of customer requirements, are create based on accurate estimations.
- Manage delivery of functionality against agreed business needs.
- Meet business requirements by providing advice to delivery team on most appropriate delivery management approach.
- Manage user story priorities effectively and ensure dependencies and impediments are managed accordingly.
- Ensure professional advice accepted and implemented.
- Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
- Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially on grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
- Facilitate the team for better creativity and tries to improve the efficiency of the development team.
- Responsible for managing the scrum process with the coordination of scrum team in Agile methodology.
- Arranged daily stand-up meetings, facilitate meetings, schedule meetings, demo and decision-making processes in order to ensure quick inspection and proper use of adaptation process.
- Helps product owner to make the product backlogs in good shape and make them ready for the next sprint.
- Responsible to Conduct retrospective meetings.
- Acts as safeguard for the team.
- Guiding the team and organisation on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight customers.
- Guiding the team on how to get the most of out self-organisation.
- Guiding the team on self-organising to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks.
- Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organisation and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organisation.
- Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.
- Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
- Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
- Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
- Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example.
- Organizes and facilitates the sprint planning meeting.
- Review the company and Business Unit Plan and ensure delivered systems, process, services and solutions are aligned to support the achievement of the business strategy, objectives and values.
- Identify training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from management to improve personal capability and to stay abreast of developments in field of expertise.
- Ensure all personal development plan activities are completed within specified timeframe to ensure personal growth and application of new competence in function to enable effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities.
- Share knowledge and industry trends with team and stakeholders during formal and informal interaction to enable skilling and required corrective action taking place.
- Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes (e.g. operational processes) that will improve the functioning of stakeholders’ businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.
- Participate in The company Culture building initiatives (e.g. Barrett Surveys etc.) contributing to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals.
- Participate and support corporate social responsibility initiatives for the achievement of business strategy (e.g. Social responsibility, Green Strategy).
- Identify opportunities to influence the improvement or enhancement of business processes and methodologies by researching and recommending improvement initiatives and effective ways to operate and add value to the company.
