A large financial Service Company based in Sandton seeks a Senior Quantitative Analyst – Data with:
Key Duties and Responsibilities (Broad):
- Analyze and interpret quantitative and qualitative data.
- Interpret verbal problem statements and through analytical insight provide implementable solutions using expertise with data management tools and statistical analysis.
- Build and formally present reports by monitoring business performance within the set risk appetite and through analysis.
- Build and refine financial models using software tools
- Report to, monitor and advise operational areas to manage trends through analysis for ad-hoc requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities (Specific to Role):
Development ,maintenance and management of the Retail Relationship Banking data environment to ensure data accuracy, consistency and ease of use.
Key responsibilities include:
- Cross-functional and cross-channel data sourcing and structuring.
- Ensure data compliance with BCBS239 (“Principles for effective risk data aggregation and risk reporting”).
- Innovate and optimize current tools that facilitate the smooth running of the business as well as provide support to sales and assessors in respect of these tools. Design data solutions based on business strategy, considering system design and development, integration and control of data, and the future technology direction, including the migration plans to move from current to future state.
- Increase efficiencies through programming and automating processes.
- Ensure data accuracy through data analysis, pre and post testing of system/strategy changes.
- Take corrective action when there is misalignment of data between systems, processes, models and reporting.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance processes, systems and policies and support adoption of new / enhanced processes / systems
- Analyze and interpret complex data, identifying trends, and providing informed results and recommendations to Retail Relationship Banking EXCO and credit committee.
- Liaise with business area and IT to receive and collate relevant information.
- Translate business requirements into technical requirements.
- Excellent time management skills and organizational agility, including the ability to effectively balance multiple deliverables and priorities under tight deadlines.
Educational Requirements:
- Commerce / Engineering / Science / Math / Economics / Stats degree with solid results.
o Other degrees may be considered on a case by case basis.
o Honors degree or higher beneficial, but not required.
- Solid Matric, especially math and science (A or B preferred).
Experience Requirements:
- 2 – 5 years analytical experience
Skills:
- Analytics:
o Strong numeracy
o Strong analytical / problem solving ability
o Track record in working with large and complex data sets (SAS, Matlab, SQL, Excel, etc.)
- Communication:
o Track record in documenting and presenting work; strong presentation skills
o Articulate communicator
- Leadership:
o Willing to manage, mentor & influence others (experience here valuable, but not usually required)
- Market Knowledge:
o Good understanding of the banking market, financial services, risk, profit & loss
