A large financial Service Company based in Cape Town seeks an Application Portfolio Manager with:

Minimum requirements

• Grade 12
• An Appropriate IT Qualification (Diploma/Degree) will be a strong recommendation.
• IT Degree with relevant management diploma or certificate(preferable)
• Knowledge of technology (existing and emerging) and its application in the life industry
• Strong delivery and project management knowledge
• Financial acumen in budgeting and management of IT costs to business unit/s.

Experience:

• 2 years spent in managing a large Portfolio of IT Business Applications
• 2 – 5 years IT Development experience
• Experience in designing solutions
• Multi-Tier system production support experience
• Strong understanding of Business Intelligence applications
• Strong understanding of Warehouse applications
• Strong understanding of integration and security principles
• Mainframe development exposure will be an advantage
• Application of IT governance principles
• Understand the application delivery and management life cycle
• Experience in application development, support and release management
• Experience in managing services provided by 3rd party vendors
• Project and resource management experience; including development of resources
• Proven Delivery Management track record

Responsibilities:

• Ensure systems and processes within the portfolio are operated efficiently and effectively and deliver against business needs
• Ensure quality and cost effective development and maintenance of Warehouses, Marts and Mainframe (Cobol/DB2) applications within the portfolio in accordance with SPF:IT processes and standards (i.e., architecture and security standards, project management and quality assurance methodologies etc.)
• Co-ordinate the optimal use of resources on Data Stage, Business Objects and Cobol/DB2 applications within the portfolio.
• Ensure effective management of IT Solution Delivery in accordance to the Service orientated, and process oriented SDLC.
• Ensure effective management of IT Solution Maintenance and provide 2nd and 3rd level support in accordance to the problem resolution process.
• Ensure effective release management and change management to production environment.
• Develop and ensure implementation of lifecycle management plans for all Warehouses, Marts, Cobol/DB2 and packaged applications within the portfolio.
• Prepare and manage costs budget for development and maintenance work for the portfolio.
• Manage application support or development teams working on the portfolio of applications.
• Communication to all stakeholders on delivery dates, systems and processes within the portfolio.
