Responsibilities:

·                Check the SQL Error logs for any errors that may of occurred overnight.

·                Check available physical Disk space (stored procedure)

·                Check the Event Viewer.

·                Check the jobs for failed completion.

·                Check backups and log sizes.

·                Monitor performance with PERFMON

·                Check for outstanding active or blocked transactions (stored procedure)

Weekly:

·                Run Indexing

·                Run Integrity checks

Monthly:

·                Perform monthly security audits on all logins and users to SQL Server.

·                Perform physical disk fragmentation on data drives.

Requirements:

·                B Sc (software) B Tech in Systems software or National Diploma in systems software:

·                +/- 3 years experiences as DBA
